Haiti Relief Update - 1/29 11:30 am
One of our teams is partnering with pastors and servants from CC Delta (PA). Here's a report that CC Delta forwarded yesterday (names edited for security reasons):
I spoke with our pastor this afternoon from Port-au-Prince. They ended up spending the night at the tent city established by Calvary Chapel Port-au-Prince, since it got dark before they could find the other place. He said it was a wonderful time with the believers there. Today, part of the team assessed the situation in the tent cities in the downtown area, to see how they would be received. They had been told mixed things about going, so they were blessed to find that they were well received and felt quite safe. One person came to know the Lord, and they were able to pray with others. A local pastor drove them around today. The roads look like a war-zone, and it takes a long time to get anywhere. They saw the area near the port, and the scene was complete devastation. They had to wear masks because of the odor.
The medically qualified spent the day serving at a hospital. They are being hosted by a Haitian couple from Calvary Chapel of P-a-P who live outside of the city. He is a surgeon and she is an obstetrician, and they are transporting the team back and forth to the hospital.
The team (except the medical staff) are travelling back to the DR tomorrow to meet up with additional servants. They will all be travelling back to P-a-P tomorrow, transporting additional medical workers to the hospital. Then the rest will spend the day sharing the gospel in the tent cities downtown.
Please continue to pray. The Lord has given them great favor, and has led them to establish contacts with Haitian believers so we can have the groundwork laid for further ministry in Haiti.
